Nollywood actress and trained engineer, Etinosa Idemudia, has stirred massive reactions across social media after she boldly claimed that being an actor is far more demanding and mentally exhausting than working as an engineer.
The multi-talented entertainer made this revelation during a recent interview, where she opened up about her professional journey, switching from engineering to acting. According to her, the comparison between both fields comes from her personal experience, having worked as an engineer before fully delving into Nollywood.

Etinosa explained that while engineering is more structured, with clear routines and predictable work patterns, acting is a different world entirely—one that tests a person’s emotions, patience, and physical strength. She emphasized that actors often work long hours, spend sleepless nights on set, and must consistently deliver emotionally charged performances that connect with audiences.
The actress added that acting is not just a profession but a lifestyle that consumes one’s time and energy, often blurring the line between personal life and work. She noted that the mental toll actors face is rarely understood by outsiders who assume the job is glamorous or easy.
Etinosa describes acting as mentally and physically demanding
Sharing more insight, Etinosa Idemudia described acting as both mentally and physically draining, explaining that the emotional intensity required to portray different roles can be overwhelming. She said the constant need to adapt to diverse characters, maintain authenticity, and meet audience expectations makes the profession far more taxing than many people realize.
In her words …
“I’ve been an engineer and I’ve been an actor, and I dare say, no offense to my colleagues in the engineering world, but being an actor is much more tasking. It’s a crazy kind of work—it’s a mad people’s work. Don’t let those people that close by 5 p.m. come and be insulting us. They don’t understand how draining this job can be.”
Etinosa’s background in engineering
Before making her mark in Nollywood, Etinosa Idemudia graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from Covenant University, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious private institutions. She briefly worked as an engineer before deciding to pursue her lifelong passion for acting and filmmaking—a decision that eventually made her one of the most recognized faces in the Nigerian film industry.
Today, Etinosa continues to make waves in Nollywood, balancing her creativity with discipline and a deep understanding of both technical and artistic professions.
