Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has announced that he has embraced Islam, marking a major personal and spiritual milestone in his life.
The “City Boys” hitmaker made the revelation during a live Twitch session with US streamer PlaqueBoyMax, where he spoke openly about his faith journey, his upbringing, and the peace he says he has found in Islam.
“I Was Born Christian, But Islam Gave Me Peace”
Burna Boy shared that he grew up in a Christian household, following the religion of his parents during his early years. However, as he matured, he began exploring deeper questions about life, spirituality, and purpose.
According to him, his shift in faith was not influenced by external pressure or rebellion, but by personal conviction and inner peace. He explained that his search for truth and meaning eventually led him to Islam.
“I was born into Christianity because that’s what my parents practiced,” he said. “But as I grew older, I started to question and research about life and faith. That’s when I found Islam. It came naturally to me — I just felt peace.”
Burna Boy emphasized that his decision was based on personal enlightenment and spiritual clarity, adding that he feels calm, grounded, and aligned with his path.
