Nigerian controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has stirred massive reactions online following his outspoken response to United States President Donald Trump’s recent remarks threatening military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

Speaking during a TikTok live session with a Nigerian-born US soldier, Portable issued a bold warning to American forces, cautioning them against underestimating Nigeria’s internal complexities and the resilience of armed groups in the country.

The Zazuu Zeh hitmaker asserted that if US troops attempt to invade Nigeria, they may never return home, stressing that the situation on ground is far more complicated than many foreign observers understand.

He said, “If US soldiers invade Nigeria, they won’t go back home. You see all those Boko Haram people you’re hearing about? They are people’s fathers, brothers, and husbands. Most of them joined because of hunger.”

Portable suggested that many insurgents were forced into terrorism due to extreme poverty and lack of opportunities, adding that the dynamics behind Nigeria’s security crisis are rooted in deep social and economic struggles.

Portable alleges terrorism in Nigeria is backed by powerful figures

The singer further claimed that extremist groups in the country enjoy support from powerful individuals, both within the nation and internationally, making the conflict more difficult to solve than outsiders assume.

According to him, “The people sponsoring these insurgents are among the elites. The fight no be only gun and soldier matter. E get level wey una no understand.”

His comments quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking intense debate and humorous commentary from Nigerians who either agreed, mocked, or questioned his perspective.

One user, Ladi, reacted saying, “I just believe say wetin people dey talk say Portable never finish him drug for Yabaleft na true,” while another joked, “He got me rolling when he said, ‘let’s talk like educated person.’”

Others found his remarks thought-provoking, with someone writing, “The victims no be people fathers, husbands and children abi?” showing that his comments also touched raw emotions regarding the victims of terrorism.

Trump’s warning heightens diplomatic debate

Portable’s viral statement follows President Donald Trump’s warning to the Nigerian government, where he threatened that the US would go “guns blazing” if attacks on Christians continue in Nigeria — a declaration that has since generated heated global and diplomatic responses.

The situation has triggered intense discussions on social media, with Nigerians deeply divided on the feasibility and consequences of any foreign military intervention in the country.
