Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has taken to social media to make a heartfelt plea to Nigerians, urging them to stop insulting her mother, Rita Daniels, amidst the ongoing marital disputes between her and billionaire politician, Senator Ned Nwoko. The actress shared an emotional video on Instagram on Wednesday, addressing various misconceptions surrounding her marriage and family, including rumors suggesting she married for money or that her mother pressured her into the union.

“My Mom Is the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me”

In the video, Regina Daniels passionately defended her mother, describing her as her pillar of strength and the greatest source of support throughout her life. She expressed disappointment at the constant public insults directed at Rita Daniels, stressing that her mother has always been there for her through thick and thin.

“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my god on earth. She’s been strong for seven years. My mom held it down. She tried. You all insulted her, but she tried,” Regina said, highlighting the immense sacrifices and emotional support her mother has provided over the years.

The actress clarified that her decision to marry Ned Nwoko was entirely her own, and that her family initially advised against it, demonstrating that the choice came from her personal convictions rather than familial pressure.

“I Didn’t Marry Out of Greed”

Addressing circulating rumors that her marriage to the senator was financially motivated, Regina Daniels firmly stated that her family was financially stable at the time she chose to marry Nwoko. She emphasized that her mother worked tirelessly to provide for her and her siblings, making it unnecessary to marry for wealth or financial gain.

“You all stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me, no. We were not broke. What money can a man give a mother to get her child who practically provides everything in the house?” she questioned, pointing out that her family’s comfort and her mother’s sacrifices made any claim of greed unfounded.

She further elaborated on her sense of responsibility to make her mother proud, stating that her decisions in life, including her marriage, were influenced by her desire to honor the hard work and dedication of her mother over the years.

“I Almost Took My Own Life”

In a startling revelation, Regina disclosed that the immense pressure surrounding her decision to marry Ned Nwoko once brought her to the brink of suicide. She revealed the emotional turmoil she faced when her family opposed her marriage, describing the intensity of the situation at the time.

“I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned. Everyone was looking for me. My brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. I went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me. My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life,’” she recounted. Despite the opposition and the emotional challenges, Regina insisted that she pursued the marriage because of genuine love for Nwoko.

“I Still Respect Ned Nwoko”

Regina Daniels also spoke about her current relationship with her estranged husband, asserting that she still maintains respect and care for him, especially for the sake of their children, Munir and Khalifa. She defined love as a combination of care and respect, noting that this principle guides her actions amid the ongoing marital crisis.

“I actually did fall in love. And I still care and respect him. That’s love—care and respect. The only reason I’m not fighting you, Ned, is because I want Munir and Khalifa’s father’s name to be strong,” she stated, emphasizing her commitment to protecting her children’s well-being and honoring their father’s role in their lives despite the tensions.

Through the video, Regina Daniels not only defended her mother and clarified misconceptions about her motivations for marriage but also offered insight into her emotional struggles, the weight of familial expectations, and the ongoing efforts to navigate a complex marital and family situation while prioritizing her children’s future.
