Deeper Christian Life Ministry has issued a strong denunciation of a viral false report that has been circulating online, allegedly quoting its founder, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, as claiming that America was attempting to exploit Nigeria’s natural resources while denying the existence of Christian persecution in the country. The church described the report as entirely fabricated, misleading, and malicious in nature, warning that such misinformation undermines the credibility of religious institutions and spreads confusion among the faithful.
The misleading statement reportedly originated from an unverified online platform known as “Ibomfocus,” which falsely attributed statements to Pastor Kumuyi and claimed he held a press conference in Lagos to address the matter. In response, the Deeper Life Ministry clarified in an official statement that the cleric has not made any such remarks, nor has he addressed any press conference in Nigeria regarding political matters. The church emphasized that the spread of this fake news was both irresponsible and harmful, potentially misleading large numbers of people who respect Pastor Kumuyi’s guidance and teachings.

According to the ministry, Pastor Kumuyi has been outside Nigeria for an extended period, conducting evangelical programs across the Oceania region and the Far East. During this time, he has remained entirely focused on preaching the gospel, providing spiritual guidance, and engaging in religious activities aimed at moral and ethical transformation. The church stressed that Pastor Kumuyi does not involve himself in political discussions, debates, or controversies, and any attempt to attribute political statements to him is categorically false.
Pastor Kumuyi’s Apolitical Stance Reaffirmed
The ministry reiterated that Pastor Kumuyi maintains a consistent and well-documented stance of political neutrality, dedicating his life solely to preaching, evangelism, and spiritual mentorship. His teachings and activities have always centered on spiritual revival, moral integrity, and the transformation of lives rather than political issues or commentary. Deeper Life Bible Church affirmed that its mission transcends politics and is entirely focused on spreading the message of salvation, hope, and ethical living to people of all backgrounds.
The church also highlighted that any attempt to link Pastor Kumuyi to politically charged narratives or false accusations undermines the church’s mission, values, and the integrity of its work. Members of the public were urged to disregard the fake report entirely and to rely solely on verified communications from the church’s official channels, including its website and recognized social media accounts. The ministry emphasized that accurate information is critical in maintaining trust and preventing the spread of false narratives in the digital space.
Legal Warning to Purveyors of Misinformation
In addition to clarifying the false report, the church issued a stern warning to individuals or platforms that deliberately spread misinformation about Pastor Kumuyi or the ministry. Deeper Life Ministry cautioned that repeated defamatory actions could result in legal consequences, including potential litigation for defamation and damages. The church underscored that the incident highlights the growing challenges of misinformation in Nigeria’s online space, particularly regarding religious leaders, and called for heightened vigilance and ethical reporting standards.
The ministry further urged journalists, bloggers, content creators, and social media users to verify all information before publication or sharing, stressing that ethical responsibility is essential in maintaining credibility, protecting public trust, and safeguarding the reputation of respected figures like Pastor Kumuyi. By emphasizing accurate reporting and accountability, the church aims to prevent the spread of harmful fake news and ensure that followers receive trustworthy information regarding the ministry’s activities and leadership.
