A 200-level Biotechnology student of Delta State University (DELSU) has been rusticated for two academic years after publicly posting a disturbing video of a dying colleague online, according to an official university statement now circulating on social media.
The disciplinary action was confirmed in a letter signed by the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asagba, who emphasized that the student’s conduct violated university rules and ethical standards.
Details Of The Disciplinary Action
The letter, dated October 21, 2025, revealed that the student, identified as Ezi Ugoma, recorded a fellow student fighting for life and went ahead to post the distressing clip on TikTok instead of seeking help or alerting authorities immediately.
The university stated that such behavior was considered highly inappropriate and insensitive, prompting the disciplinary committee to recommend a two-year suspension. She has been rusticated for four semesters, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
In the statement, DELSU stressed the incident falls under “assault-related misconduct,” highlighting the emotional harm and ethical breach caused by publicizing someone’s final moments online.
The student is expected to return and continue her studies in the 2027/2028 academic session after serving the penalty and is also expected to use the suspension period as a time for reflection and reform.

The university reiterated its commitment to enforcing strict disciplinary standards to maintain a respectful and responsible academic environment. It also encouraged students to conduct themselves with empathy and dignity, especially in emergency situations.
